IDCORE Research Engineer - Tzu-Hsun Lin

Tzu‑Hsun is conducting forward‑looking research on synthetic fibre ropes for floating offshore wind mooring systems, combining numerical modelling and physical testing to understand how these next‑generation materials behave under marine conditions. Supported by IDCORE and ORE Catapult, she is developing both technical expertise and strong communication skills to ensure her work has real‑world impact.

IDCORE Research Engineer, Kieran Budgell

Kieran’s project with the ORE Catapult highlights the strength of industry–academic networks, enabling him to draw on wide sector expertise while contributing valuable research and collaboration across the offshore renewables community.  His experience demonstrates how partnerships can build communication, systems‑thinking and professional connections that support the sector’s progress.

Nadia recently completed an MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh and was seeking to develop her knowledge further with a PhD. IDCORE was appealing as it created a bridge between industrial experience and academic research in the rewarding, rapidly expanding area of offshore renewables.
