EngD Project Title: Development of grid-scale wave energy technology via novel, engineering-integrated numerical modelling.

Industrial Partner: Mocean Energy

Educational and professional background

With a Bachelor’s in Engineering Physics and a Master’s in Physics at the University of Oldenburg, I worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems as well as for a battery storage and software start up in Germany.

What attracted you to studying with IDCORE?

The chance to dive into a four year doctoral project on offshore renewable energy engineering with extensive supervision, further training and financial support was a unique opportunity for me. I also saw great value in the combination of work in industry and research, hoping for the best of both worlds.

What attracted you to the renewable energy sector? What aspects of the industry do you find most inspiring, interesting, or important for the future?

As climate change has been an important topic for me since school, I decided to work in the green tech sector, of which renewable energies are currently the most effective. Tackling the energy transition challenge with reliable, clean energy is a very exciting task to work on.
